B4 WE BOARD 2012

THEY HAD COME ALONG, LIKE US;
MEN AND WOMEN;
MARRIED OR SINGLE;
CHILDREN AND ADULTS;
TOGETHER, WE’D BOARDED THE TRAIN JAN 2011;
IN ESTEEMED HOPE TO DISEMBARK DEC 2011;
TRANSFER TO ANOTHER TRAIN JAN 2012;
IN FURTHERANCE OF OUR JOURNEY;
 OUT OF DESOLATE DARKNESS;
TO THE DAWN OF THE TWILIGHT;
THE LAND OF THE MARVELOUS LIGHT;
AHEAD OF US, LO, THE ROSEATE GLOWS;
INNA CLOSE DISTANCE;
AND OUR PILOT HAD ANNOUNCED;
WE’D BE TRANSFERRING IN MINUTES;
HAD’NT SEEN A DEMON LURKED ON THE TRACK;
BOMBS ON HIS RIGHT HAND;
IN HIS LEFT HAND, HELD HIM AK47;
WAITING TO SPILL OUR BLOODS;
FOR THE REMISSION OF SIN COMMITTED;
 NOT BY THE ORDER OF PONTIUS PILATE;
THAT CRUCIFIED CHRIST JESUS;
BUT BY THE ORDER OF YARADUA/JONA;
THAT KILLED FUDU BOKO-HARAM;
SUDDENLY, IT HAD HAPPENED SO FAST;
BEFORE A CHILD COULD’VE SAID MAMA;
A LOUD BLAST, FOLLOWED BY LOUDER ONES;
BULLETS FLIED! PEOPLE FLIED! TRAIN FLIED!
SOME AMONG US WERE INJURED;
SOME WERE AMPUTATED;
SOME FLIED WILD, ACROSS ETERNAL BRIDGE;
AND NEVER, OUR EYES ‘LL SEE THEM AGAIN;
US WHO ARE ALIVE, HAIL, AND HEARTY;
HERE YET, IS A TRANSFERRING TRAIN;
BUT BEFORE WE WILL GET ON BOARD;
LET US STAND UP IN SOLEMN PRAYER;
FOR THE SOULS THAT DIED IN BOMBS;
A TRIBUTE TO THE SARCROSANT OF LIFE;
WISH US ALL SAFE JOURNEY IN 2012.
THANK YOU.  ==deola.

WORLD OF MUMUNITY!!!

I was a college instructor;
Unbearably tending to my class;
In math, history or geography;
Until a voice rang out, saying;
Put ye on your shoes;
For the instructorship thou are;
Is an unholy place of the riches;
Forgo ye this land, and come with me;
I’ve prepare a place for you in theology;
Where you’ll ride in jets above the sky so high;
Above the paupers of your congregations;
For verily, from he that has not;
More will be taken from him;
In accordance to the law of osmosis;
Sayest not I the lord;
But the love of your ambition.
Yes, I was an accountant;
Tending to my book keeping;
All hadn’t been rosy;
Balancing had always yielded negative;
Until one day, lo, heaven opened above me;
A voice rang out, saying!
Your cry has reached unto me;
Forgo ye the barren land of accounting;
Come, theology is the alternative for you;
Soon, uncountable will be your Rolls Royce;
You’ll build terbanacle and university;
Even from daily toil and sweat of your congregation;
Will you flourished and dined at ease;
Sayest not I the lord;
But the greed dwelleth within you.
This is how the snake has feasted;
Ever since, on Adam and eve “mumunity”;
Yes, “mumunity”, and if you doubt my vocabulary;
Let me show you from oduacyclopedia;
From the spiritual proximity of Lamurudu;
Ancient odu oro of ancestral Yorubas;
Beyond the Garden of Eden;
“Mumunity” is a synonym of “stupidity”;
Shout a-la-la-yah (hallelujah), somebody!
Arapachapa chapa chapa... (Speaking in tongue)

PEACE ON EARTH

“Heaven on Earth;
 We need it now;
I'm sick of all of this:
 Hanging around;
Sick of sorrow:
 Sick of the pain;
I'm sick of hearing;
 Again and again;
That there's gonna be;
Peace on Earth;
Where I grew up;
There weren't many trees;
Where there was;
 We'd tear them down;
And use them on our enemies;
They say that what you mock;
Will surely overtake you;
And you become a monster;
So the monster won’t break you;
And it's already gone too far;
Who said if you go in hard,
You won't get hurt?
Jesus, can you take the time,
To throw a drowning man a line?
Peace on Earth;
Tell the ones who hear no sound;
Whose sons are living in the ground;
Peace on Earth ;
No whos or whys;
No one cries, like a mother cries;
For peace on Earth;
Jesus, can you take the time,
To throw a drowning man a line?
Peace on Earth;
To tell the ones who hear no sound;
Whose sons are living in the ground;
Peace on Earth;
Jesus, sing the song you wrote;
The words are sticking in my throat;
Peace on Earth;
Hear it every Christmas time;
But hope and history won't rhyme;
So, what's it worth?
This peace on Earth;
Peace on Earth;
Peace on Earth;
Peace on Earth” ======= ====U2

ANGELIQUE KIDJO

'NOTHER PART O ME!!!

I'm Nigerian-American, a liberal and perfectionist. it is part of who I am. I'm never pleased with anything, and always strive for improvement in all my dealings. I am very emotional and empathetic, and strive to contribute to the welfare of mankind, by way of getting acquaint with others, while building intimacy and giving support and admonition. It is the basic of my liberality. I believe in love and friendship, because without the given of love, life of man would be solitary, poor, brutish and short. It is an immutable law of creation that birds of identical plumage flock. The success of a specific kind can always be achieved only by the activity of the homogeneous kind. The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed. I started school at about five years of age. I remember that I intensely hated the project because it severely curtailed my period of play and freedom. You must be tidy in appearance coming to school, which meant either a complete ablution or the washing of face and limbs to present at least a good facade. I love beauty in a complete naturalness, hence my affiliation to the beauty of sky, ocean, field and flowers. I also love reading, traveling and sports, especially soccer and wrestling. I always dress in classic designers-Calvin Klein, Nautical, Ralph Lauren, Perry Ellis, Kenneth Cole, Diesel, Guess and Fossil.
FAVORITE MUSIC: African-king sunny Ade, Fela kuti, country- don Williams, reggae-bob Marley, pop-Michael Jackson (my idol who’s gone too soon)
FAVORITE SPORT: soccer (stars: Ronaldinho of Brazil, Ronaldo of Brazil, JJ Okocha of Nigeria) and wrestling (stars: John Cena, DX, Rey mysterio, Sin Cara, Randy Orton and Undertaker)
FAVORITE BOOKS: laws, philosophy, bible and grail message
FAVORITE CAR: BMW
FAVORITE QUOTATIONS: We meet challenges on our feet, and not on our knees, because Success lies solely in the conscious commitment of the human spirit which must be followed by unrelenting effort -TAI SOLARIN
PUBLIC FIGURES: Professor Wole Soyinka (my education mentor), Gandhi, Kwame Nkuruma, Ronaldinho (my soccer idol), JJ Okocha (my soccer angel), John Cena (my favorite wrestler).
FAVORITE MOVIES: Remember the time (Michael Jackson), 90 minutes in Entebbe
BOOKS I WANT TO READ: Thomas Payne
PLACES I WANT TO VISIT: Moon; Tirol-Austria, Tel-Aviv-Israel, Tokyo-Japan, Paris-France, Cairo-Egypt.
MY AMBITIONS: I desire so much to be a contributor to medical research efforts in treatment and extermination of diseases in the country, and to be involved in the propagation of medical science research to the remotest part of the world-in the United States army, navy, air force or Red Cross.
Though, the rigor of clinical science academy may be tough, I definitely will have leverage, because “we meet challenges on our feet and not on our knees”-(Tai Solarin). Success lies solely in the conscious commitment of the human spirit which must be followed by unrelenting effort. ===DEOLA MCAGUNS

JONATHANITIS

He has gotten our number
He knows our game
Now, he is putting us under;
In his hand, is a subsidy knife;
Blood‘ll be on the dance floor;
Soon, sooner or soonest.
Jona’s gotten our number;
Our only good luck and honey;
Is now taking us under;
With his huge subsidy knife;
Soon, or very soon;
Blood‘ll be on the dance floor.
He had won our love;
It had happened fast;
But now too late for us;
To make any back-up;
The blade is switched on;
Soon, sooner or soonest;
Blood‘ll be on the dance floor;
And all eyes will behold;
That jonathanitis is a killer disease;
Deadlier than the abachiosis;
Deadlier than babangidiosis
Deadlier than obasanjositis

WAKE UP!!!

Hosanna!
Holy, and;
Hallelujah!
To the bishop;
In Canaan, he’s;
Built an altar;
That we might;
Worship the Lord;
That we might;
Come to Christ;
In order that;
The Lord would;
Forgive our sins;
Yes! Hosanna;
To the bishop;
That cast out;
Witches by slaps;
Blessed is he;
Yea, blessed!
He has colleges;
Blessed is he;
Yea, blessed!
He owns airplanes;
Our eyes see him;
Always takes off;
To the sky blue;
Our eyes see him;
Always returns;
In shinning wings;
Hah, indeed;
Higher is he!
Than the Christ;
Christ had ridden;
Only on donkey;
Yes, hosanna;
To the bishop;
He, who clads in;
Big clothes;
His fingers are;
Made of gold;
His shoes are;
Made of gold;
From Shiloh, he;
Casted out witches;
His countenance;
Swift with slaps;
The mumu roars;
In thunderous;
Alalaya (hallelujah)!
His sword’s with him;
In the right hand;
In his left hand;
He holds;
Gold microphone;
Suffered, he;
The little children;
To come onto;
I, the lord;
For the casting;
Of their wizardry;
Verily, verily;
Onto teenagers;
Is not meant;
Kingdom of heaven;
How easy it’ll be;
For elephant to pass;
The eye of a needle;
Than for teenagers;
Especially, a child;
That disputes;
Bishop’s words
To inherit the;
Lord’s kingdom!
Let the mumu;
Remember;
“Mumu” is “stupid”;
Shout, again;
Louder alalaya!
Hosanna!
Holy!
Hosanna.

CHILD’S NAIVETY!!!

Everyone, in adolescent, has some kind of fear. My own childhood (adolescent) fear was about meeting a ghost of a dead person.
In the community of Akoko North of Ondo State of Nigeria, where I was born, there was the make belief that the dead do rise from the grave, and walks round. Hence, each time I heard a person died, I fear to go to sleep. I’d feel some forms of apparition following me.
It didn't actually happen, until, my elder brother, one day, acted ghost-like during the half moonlight, in order to scare me. I had gone to play with Tunde (my friend), and had, unfortunately, stayed late. It was already dark when I was returning home. On the way home, the apprehension of meeting with a ghost bumped into my mind; but, I tried to act bold by singing “Orlando Owoh” song. As I was just a few meter to my house, lo, and behold an image, veiled in snow-white from head to toe stood in front of me. I cried, and run, my heel almost touching the back of my skull. The apparition chased after me, caught up with me, and grabs hold of my hand. My blood bumped and went cold. I fainted, and woke up to find myself in the clinic, surrounded by nurses.
Later, mom brought me food. I held on to her hand, snuggle closer, and told her: “mom, do not to leave me, you know, the ghost could come back. Tell dad to bring his cutlass.” Mom and the nurses laughed it off heartily, and I was taking aback why they would be thinking an apparition that had wanted to kidnap me was funny. I grew irritated by their laugh, and I said: “mom, this ain’t some funny stuff, you know?” One of the nurses asked me: “Deola, how did the ghost look?
As I was trying to narrate the encounter, the post trauma of it set in on me again. I drifted back to seeing him (the ghost). I became instantly frightened, and fainting. Then, mom hugged, kissed me, and said: “Deola, it ain’t a ghost you saw. It was Dada (my elder brother) who acted the ghost to scare you.” Whoa, mom, you meant he did? I’m gonna have to look some ways to teach him a lesson in revenge. Everyone, except me, laughed. It was a terror of the valley of the shadow of death. The shame of being so naïve terrified me each time I hobble into a gathering of people who had heard about the story.
Dear readers, do you enjoy my story? Do you, too, have an adolescent fear? How I wish you could gist me your fear. Thank you for your reading.
