FFK THE OPPORTUNIST!

There was a bird, his name is “Anfani Kayode” (opportunist). Anfani Kayode’s also known as “FFK”. He’s nicknamed “FFK” because, each time he flies pass-by, his wings clap “Fe-fe-nki”. This bird built his nest upon the tower of HRH, the king of the land. At this height, FFK sits, every morning, trumpeting and singing to lampoon the monarch for wuruwuru (corruption) in the kingdom:

“Odide, odide o;

Fere din mefa o;

Oba alade ori o;

Lojojumo aye o;

Fere din mefa o;

Ole ji o, ole gba;

Fere din mefa o!”

HRH had tried, discretely, but failed, to rid this bird. But, you all know: “omode ki nlaso, ko ni akisa ju agbalagba (the brilliancy of a child does not equate the ingenious of an elder)”. One day, as FFK flew away, in search of food, leaving in his nest, his trumpet, HRH sent an emissary to climb the tower, find FFK’s trumpet, put into it some peanuts soaked in honey. In the morning of the second day, FFK was awaked as usual, and ready to begin his song. As he dip his trumpet in the mouth, a sweet peanut rolled into his tongue, and a new song boomed in praise of the king:

"Odide, odide o;

Sweet peanut o;

Oba alade ori o;

Sweet majesty o;

Peanut-n- honey;

Fere le mefa o!"

Enu ofo kin dun yanmu-yanmu (empty mouth doesn’t chew). Na so the elders talk am o, no be me o, ehen!!!
