AIN’T HALLELUJAH TIME

Baba rere, baba ke!
(Good father, godfather!)
Iyalode, iya lonlo!
(Godmother, who dares all!)
Tranka dedeh!
(saluting your honor!)
Hail them more!
Hah, how longer,
Nigerians, will we keep;
Our mumu (stupid) dance?
How longer, we’ll  we,
Keep our iwofa (slave) dance?
How does being someone slave,
Satisfy our souls?
Shine your eyes, ladies and gentlemen;
Them belly full;
But, we hungry;
Senator earns $189,000 (USD);
But, you and me;
Don’t earn 189,000 kobo;
Like I have once said;
They’d gotten scholarship;
When they‘re in school;
We got hunger;
They got bursary in colleges;
We are charged fees;
They got feeding voucher;
We got striking teachers;
They got future;
Them, and their children;
We got feature;
Bombing, robbing, kidnapping;
In school and after school;
We get posted to maiming zone;
Their children go overseas;
They say it’s our lot;
We, the people;
 And, perhaps our children;
If we ever get to marry;
Hah, mumu (stupidity) go away;
Don’t ever come again;
Another day;
It ain’t hallelujah time;
Now, Nigerians are;
Wiser than ever before;
Until we shout it out, yeah;
We want things to be alright;
Until we shout it out, yeah;
It ain’t hallelujah time;
Let’s remember;
How Martin Luther King;
Shout it out in USA,
Until then;
It ain’t hallelujah time, yeah;
Now, let’s move;
And, everything gon’ be alright.
