“Wayayo
yingolooo; Omo radarada; Shu sileeee-yi! Wayayo yingolooo; Omo radarada [omo
radarada is; Yoruba noun for bad boy] Shu sileeee...yi [Shu sile=poopoo in
house]!” A man's wailing in the dawn; while every folks in the community is yet
asleep.
“Wayayo
yingolooo; Omo radarada; Shu sileeee...yi!” His wail booms so loud, and louder.
It sinks downward, rises upward nooks and corners of the village. “Wayayo
yingolooo; Omo radarada; Shu sileeee...yi!”
A
child jolts from sleep; Mom, mom, mom! Oh, my God! A bad boy had gone poopoo in
someone’s house. Hear a man wailing: “Wayayo yingolooo; Omo radarada; Shu
sileeee-yi!”
His
mom laughs wild. “Common, mom! This ain’t funny. While would a guy go out,
poopoo in someone’s house?” Deola, his mom called, ain’t anyone poopoo in someone’s house. Mom, the
boy retorted, but out there, is a man wailing: “Wayayo yingolooo; Omo radarada;
Shu sileeee...yi!” Deola, his mom tried to reassure him. The man wailing is
calling the Muslim saints for prayer in the Arab method.
I see,
mom, but, why “don’t” he do in Yoruba language, “Don’t” God understand Yoruba
language?” Deola, get back in bed, and sleep. Ma fi wahala e pami [do not kill
me with ya trouble]. His mom pleads. =DEOLA
